Yogurt is just one of those items that is always on your shopping list. Not only does it make a delicious protein-packed breakfast or a satisfying midday snack, but you can add it to smoothies, dips and sauces for a creamier texture and a tangy flavor.
Now for the amazing part: It’s really, really, really easy to make your own yogurt—and here’s why you should:
For starters, when you make your own yogurt, you have more control over what goes into it (read: no added sugars or unwanted additives or preservatives) and you can use whatever type of milk you choose, from almond and coconut to milk from your local dairy.
Do-it-yourself yogurt is also about half the price of store-bought yogurt, and there are no wasteful plastic cups or containers. We call that a win-win-win!
Here’s a simple recipe we know you’ll love that uses Renew Life Organic Daily Probiotic + Prebiotic Powder.
Ingredients:
2 cans organic coconut milk
1 tbsp. organic guar gum
1 scoop Renew Life Organic Daily Probiotic + Prebiotic Powder
Directions:
Ensure all equipment and utensils are clean and well-rinsed. In a medium saucepan, whisk together ¼ can of coconut milk and guar gum over medium-low heat until the guar gum is fully dissolved.
Add the remaining coconut milk. Continue heating the milk mixture, whisking often, until it just begins to boil. (Bubbles should appear along the edges of the saucepan, but the milk should not be fully boiling.)
Remove from heat and wait until the liquid is cool to the touch (approximately 30 minutes). Whisk in the Organic Daily Probiotic + Prebiotic Powder. Pour the mixture into your desired container(s) and cover with a light towel. Store it in a warm location (such as an oven with the light on) for approximately 24 hours to allow it to thicken. Transfer the mixture to the refrigerator and let it cool 12 hours to allow it to fully thicken.
Serve and enjoy!
